Holly Burgess, DVM

Dr. Holly Burgess grew up in Tucson and is a graduate of Canyon Del Oro High School. She attended the University of Arizona and graduated with BS degree in Animal Health Science. Dr. Burgess obtained her veterinary degree from North Carolina State University in 1993. She completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Tennessee in 1994, and then returned to Raleigh, North Carolina, to work for one year in a small animal practice before returning to Tucson. Dr. Burgess joined Sunrise Pet Clinic in March 1996.

In 2000, Dr. Burgess's 10 year old German Shepherd Megan began experiencing pain and weakness in her lower back and rear limbs that was not responding to conventional therapy. Her search for alternative and complimentary therapies that could help Megan led Dr. Burgess to pursue acupuncture training. As she continued to learn about more and more complementary healing modalities, she was led to the Nutritional Response Testing training program which utilizes muscle testing, or applied kinesiology, to detect nutritional imbalances in the body. Using whole food, herbal, and homepathic supplements, diet, as well as Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation, acupuncture, infrared laser therapy, and cold laser therapy, Dr. Burgess guides her patients bodies' towards greater balance and strength.

Dr. Burgess enjoys her home with her daughter, Aubry (8 years), two dogs (Noah, 14 year old Shih-Tzu, and Quixote, a 10 year old German Shepherd), Peter the parakeet, and Clara and Popeye the desert tortoises.  Cooking for friends and family, having fun with Aubry, and learning more about healing modalities are Dr. Burgess's favorite things to do.
